Dr. Garcia serves as an Associate Professor of Neurology and Co-Medical Director of the Surgical Epilepsy Program. His work includes advanced epilepsy care, physician education, program development, and multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment of patients with complex and drug-resistant epilepsy.

South Florida

Epilepsy Surgery Program & Level IV Epilepsy Center

Over more than a decade of clinical practice in South Florida, Dr. Garcia helped develop and expand a comprehensive epilepsy surgery program and a Level IV Epilepsy Center. He also performed the first stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) procedure in Florida, helping introduce this advanced minimally invasive technique for evaluating patients with drug-resistant epilepsy in the state.

Presurgical Epilepsy Evaluation

More than 1,500 Complex Epilepsy Evaluations

Dr. Garcia has been involved in the presurgical evaluation of more than 1,500 patients with complex and drug-resistant epilepsy. His clinical work focuses on identifying individualized treatment options for patients whose seizures have not responded to conventional medical therapy.

Bilingual Epilepsy Support Initiatives

Dr. Garcia established a longstanding physician-led epilepsy support group in South Florida and also developed a Spanish-language epilepsy support group to improve culturally and linguistically accessible education, guidance, and support for patients and families.

He has contributed to multiple research projects and has authored and co-authored scientific publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, including work related to epilepsy surgery, seizure localization, neurophysiology, and the evaluation of patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.

He has received professional recognition for his contributions to epilepsy care, medical education, research, and program development. He is an active member of the American Epilepsy Society (AES), the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), and the American Academy of Neurology (AAN).
